    A long time ago (2010) at a job far away (Colorado) my boss handed my coworker a laptop with a virus on it, but also with data for an important client. My coworker took the laptop and spent hours removing the virus and making sure that no traces of it remained and that he had saved all the files he could. He was proud of his work and handed the laptop back to the boss.

    As a child I would go into my parents’ front yard in winter and see hundreds and thousands of blackbirds. I learned that they were migrating south, and I imagined the blackbird migration as a huge wall moving south across the entire United States but this is not so. Mississippi is in one of the four major flyways of migratory birds in North America.

  • It's funny because this is what's going to kill us

    I signed up for the Google Bard beta and ChatGPT to compare them. These are two of the new Large Language Models - chatbots - that have sparked a lot of interest and concern lately in artificial intelligence. So far I have just used them to generate jokes to put in my kids’ lunchboxes.
